Step 5Restart your computer and print a test page to make sure the new drivers are installed and working.
Step 4Follow the instructions you see on your screen to install the latest drivers. Some installation wizards first remove the old drivers and then install the latest, while some simply install the drivers over the old ones.
Step 3Launch the driver installation wizard by double-clicking the setup executable (EXE) file.
Step 2Locate the Downloads section and download the latest drivers for your printer model and operating system version. All drivers should be free.
Step 1Launch the Web browser on your computer and visit your printer manufacturer's website.
Step 9Click "OK" to close the Printer Properties window.
Step 8Click "Uninstall" to completely remove the printer driver. It is sometimes better to remove the driver before you install a new one.
Step 7Click the "Roll Back Driver" button if you want to restore the previous version of the printer driver. The process is automated.
Step 6Click the "Update Driver" button to start updating the driver. You can select to search automatically for updated driver software or browse your computer for driver software.
Step 5Click the "Driver" tab to switch to it.
Step 4Right-click the printer and select "Properties" from the resulting list.
Step 3Locate your printer in the Device Manager list. You can usually find it under the Ports (COM and LPT) or Universal Serial Bus controllers nodes.
Step 2Type "Device Manager" in the "Search programs and files" box and click "Device Manager" in the list of results.
Step 1Expand the Windows 7 Start menu in the bottom-left corner of your screen.
Printer Connected to a Computer
Windows 7 uses drivers to communicate to various hardware devices connected to your computer, including printers and scanners. Printer manufacturers provide drivers with their products, but also update older drivers to optimize them and add new features. To get the latest version of the driver, roll back the driver to an earlier version or even remove the driver, you must use the Device Manager utility. Sometimes, rolling back the printer driver solves some problems introduced by a new driver version.

You should always keep your printer drivers up to date.
